February is Black History Month

February 7, 2023

This year in Canada, the theme for Black History Month is: “Ours to tell.”  The theme represents both an opportunity to engage in open dialogue and a commitment to learning more about the stories Black communities in Canada have to tell about their histories, successes, sacrifices and triumphs. For more information about Black History Month in Canada click here.

As part of this initiative, our Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging Committee has circulated informative resources firm-wide to commemorate Black History Month and organized an event for firm members featuring Guest Speaker, Raphael Tachie, Partner at Gowlings and President of the Canadian Association of Black Lawyers. The event will be catered by Black-owned businesses, The Palate Orchestra and Kula. Our entire firm looks forward to attending and educating ourselves on how we can commemorate Black History Month.

A diverse and inclusive workplace that encourages and supports differences and promotes innovative perspectives reflects both the core values of our firm and the communities in which we live and do business. Learn more about our commitment to diversity and inclusion here.
