The World Health Organization (WHO) has now declared the Coronavirus outbreak a pandemic. This does not mean that the characteristics of the disease have changed at all, it simply means there are concerns with its geographic spread.  According to the WHO a pandemic is declared when a new disease for which people do not have immunity spreads around the world beyond expectations.
