Asian Heritage Month 2022
Asian Heritage Month is a reminder for us all to come together to combat anti-Asian racism and discrimination and to help bring awareness to the numerous contributions of Canadians of Asian heritage.
This year, our Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging Committee invited firm members to celebrate the month by educating themselves in various fun and accessible ways: an internally circulated visual presentation on noteworthy Canadians of Asian origin, and an offer of tickets to the Museum of Vancouver. The Museum is currently hosting an exhibition called “A Seat at the Table”, which explores historical and contemporary stories of Chinese Canadians in BC. For more information on the exhibit click here.
The Chinese Canadian Museum is also hosting an exhibition called “A Tale of Two Families: Generations of Intercultural Communities and Family Lessons”. While admission is free, it is necessary to register, which you can do here.
Also in celebration of Asian Heritage Month, the National Film Board of Canada is offering, until the end of the month, free streaming of the documentary by Vancouver filmmaker Julia Kwan called “Everything Will Be”. Julia describes her project as a love letter to the robust, vibrant Chinatown she grew up exploring. You can watch the film here.
Thank you to our Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging Committee for organizing these events!
