Celebrating Black History Month: Presentation with Dr. June Francis
This year in Canada, the theme for Black History Month is: “February and Forever: Celebrating Black History today and every day” – a sentiment which reflects the importance of taking more than one month out of the year to address issues of Anti-Black Racism.
As part of this initiative, our Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging Committee circulated learning materials and organized informative and engaging events throughout the month. On Wednesday, February 23, 2022, members of our firm attended a virtual presentation led by Dr. June Francis, Director of the Institute for Diaspora Research and Engagement at Simon Fraser University, as well as co-chair of The Hogan’s Alley Society’s Board of Directors. We are honored to have had Dr. Francis as a speaker. She was an engaging presenter, sharing her own cultural and professional history during her powerful presentation on systemic racism in Canada and racial justice in the practice of law.
Thank you to all who participated and thank you to our Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging committee, for creating the platform to listen!
