Dress for Success
Recognized annually on November 25, International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women encourages activities around the world to draw attention to the need for continuing action to eliminate violence against women. In support of this day, we held a Dress for Success clothing drive for a second consecutive year, collecting business attire and accessories for women from our lawyers and staff. Harper Grey staff were encouraged to bring in their donations throughout the months of October and November.
Dress for Success targets the needs of low-income women and promotes economic security and self-sufficiency to stop the cycle of generational poverty, violence and homelessness in Canada. Further, the organization offers various programs focused on helping women through job preparation, employment retention and career development programs. The ultimate goal is to assist women in poverty to become stronger contributors to their families and communities. By collecting and donating this clothing, we hope to help empower women in their pursuit of economic independence. Achieving this independence is a vital component in breaking the cycle of abuse.
