Harper Grey welcomes Dr. Jules Koostachin in honour of National Indigenous Peoples Day

On June 21, 2021, the 25th anniversary of National Indigenous Peoples Day in Canada, our Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging Committee was honoured to welcome Dr. Jules Koostachin for a firm-wide discussion of her 2019 documentary, OshKiKiShiKaw. The documentary follows the story of Dr. Koostachin’s twin boys and their experience in a Cree coming of age ceremony. The film focuses on the importance of ceremony, identity and culture in the face of ongoing colonialism. We are very grateful to Dr. Koostachin for sharing her stories and experiences with us as we continue to expand our cultural knowledge and understanding. Watch Dr. Koostachin’s documentary here.
