Erin Hatch to take part in FACL BC 2023 Mentorship Roundtable Mixer

On Thursday, March 16, Harper Grey lawyer, Erin Hatch will take part in the Federation of Asian Canadian Lawyers (FACL BC) 2023 Mentorship Roundtable Mixer. The mixer will take place from 5:30-7:00pm at Bennet Jones’ downtown office and is an opportunity for law students, articling students and young associates to learn more about different areas of law from experienced lawyers in the industry. Students will be rotating through three rooms during the event, each representing a specific area of law. Erin will be joined by Nojan Kamoosi (Allen McMillan) and Heather Doi (Nathanson, Schachter & Thompson) in the Civil/Commercial Litigation room.

Charleen Sibanda to participate in “Women in Law – Power and Influence” panel

Harper Grey lawyer, Charleen Sibanda, will participate in the upcoming “Women in Law – Power and Influence” panel. Being held on Thursday, March 9 in Kamloops, the event is presented by the Thompson Rivers University Women & Law Society.

Students and faculty members will hear from all panelists on a variety of topics including developing leadership skills, overcoming barriers, and tips for success.

Corinne Caldwell participates in Women in Finance Breakfast Panel

Harper Grey COO, Corinne Caldwell, took part in a breakfast panel presented by Robert Half and the Vancouver chapter of Financial Executives International Canada (FEI Canada) on Thursday, February 9, 2023. The panel, “Becoming a CFO/COO: How to Take a Step Up into a Strategic Leadership Role” took place at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver and saw a total of 85 attendees who had the opportunity to network and engage with like-minded women leaders. Corinne was joined by two other panelists, Kristen Devaney and Kamini Hitkari, and discussed topics such as the demands of a CFO/COO role, leadership attributes, work/life balance and first-hand challenges.

Corinne has over 15 years’ experience in Canada, and abroad, and was the recipient of a BIV 2020 Forty Under 40 award in recognition of her demonstrated excellence in business, judgment, leadership, and community contribution. You can read more about Corinne here.

Harper Grey pleased to host Paralympic Foundation of Canada Lunch ‘n Learn

On October 20, our firm was pleased to host a Paralympic Foundation of Canada Lunch ‘n Learn. A proponent for inclusive sport, Harper Grey is a proud Hall of Champions Donor with the Paralympic Foundation of Canada.

The event featured a presentation by Paralympic athlete Tara Llanes. Tara is a wheelchair basketball Paralympian and helped Canada to gold medal and a berth in the Tokyo Paralympic Games at the 2019 Parapan American Games in Lima. In the Peruvian capital, Tara played in five games averaging 20 minutes on the floor. Read more about Tara and her athletic career here.

Harper Grey hosts 2022 Fall Insurance Law Seminar

On October 20, our Insurance Law Group hosted their 2022 Fall Insurance Law Update Seminar. Presented virtually, the event was hosted by Harper Grey Partner, Aaron Atkinson, and included presentations from Una Radoja, Jonathan Meadows and Kora Paciorek.

Una spoke on the topic of “Defending Claims Against Directors and Officers,” Jonathan on an “Introduction of Directors and Officers Liability Policies” and Kora on “Latest Word on Social Host Liability: Nonfeasance v. Misfeasance in Sidhu v. Hiebert.”

C. Ryan Chan volunteers for Access Pro Bono’s Everyone Legal Clinic Family Law Workshops

Harper Grey Lawyer, C. Ryan Chan, will be presenting at two sessions during Access Pro Bono’s Everyone Legal Clinic Family Law Training Week.

The first session, taking place on October 20, will focus on the topic of drafting family law agreements. The second will take place on October 21, and will be a family law panel, with various lawyers speaking about their experiences practicing family law, important lessons and practice tips, and take questions.
