In her 24 years of family law practice, Marla has earned a reputation as a thoughtful and compassionate advocate for her clients. Whether undertaking matters that are highly complex or more general in nature, Marla applies her extensive experience and practical insight to obtain the best possible outcomes for her clients.
She has guided her clients to resolve a wide range of family law issues relating to custody, child and spousal support, and division of family property. She confidently handles complex financial issues, including division of corporations, trusts, taxes and pensions, and high conflict custody cases, including those involving relocation and alienation.
She is experienced in seeking and making effective use of other family law experts, including accountants, business valuators, tax experts, appraisers and psychologists.
She strives to resolve her client’s problems as expeditiously as possible and is able to use the litigation process strategically to obtain orders necessary to facilitate settlement or, where settlement is not possible, to resolve the outstanding issues.
While she has considerable litigation experience and has appeared in all levels of court in British Columbia, she appreciates the value of alternate dispute resolution and has appeared as counsel at innumerable mediations and is trained as a Mediator.
In her spare time, Marla is a gourmand, doting mother and passionate dog walker.
