Rachel has diverse experience advising clients across her broad litigation practice.

Biography

Rachel is an associate with Harper Grey, working with our health law, professional regulation, and white-collar crime groups. She maintains a broad litigation and regulatory practice.

Prior to joining Harper Grey, Rachel practiced with one of Canada’s leading criminal litigation firms. She is an experienced trial and appellate lawyer and has appeared at all levels of court, including the Supreme Court of Canada on numerous occasions. She enjoys being in the courtroom, where she can utilize her skills in cross-examination and legal argument.

In her criminal practice, Rachel has been counsel on many complex matters, including frauds, Income Tax Act offences, homicides, and sexual assaults. She also represents complainants in sexual assault trials and is occasionally retained by the Crown as an ad hoc prosecutor.

In her health and professional regulation practices, Rachel represents professionals, such as physicians, dentists, and psychologists, in litigation and disciplinary matters before their respective regulatory bodies.

Originally from Winnipeg, Rachel obtained her juris doctor from the University of Manitoba where she received numerous awards for her academic achievement, including highest standing in Intensive Criminal Law, Torts and Compensation Systems, Corporations, and Legal Ethics. Upon graduating, she was awarded the Yude M. Henteleff Award in Human Rights and Civil Liberties in recognition of her community involvement.

Rachel is active in the legal community and is a member of several legal advocacy groups, volunteers as a supervising lawyer with the UBC Innocence Project, and presents at legal education conferences. She also intervenes on behalf of advocacy groups on important appellate cases.
