Daniel Reid interviewed by CTV News Vancouver Island for “Canada Creep” Segment
June 20, 2017
Harper Grey’s Defamation, Privacy & Media lawyer, Daniel Reid, was interviewed by David Moko, reporter for CTV News Vancouver Island, and provided commentary regarding the proliferation of feeds, such as “Canada Creep” and “Street Vancouver” featuring private videos taken of women in public places without their consent. As for when voyeurism results in criminal charges, it all comes down to whether the accuser has a reasonable expectation of privacy and if the purpose was sexual. Daniel noted “Charges are quite rare and they are typically only brought in cases where there is a significant public outcry.” The outcry was enough for the “Street Vancouver” page to be pulled down.
