Derek Mah appointed judge of the Provincial Court

July 16, 2021

All of us at Harper Grey are proud to share that Derek Mah has recently been appointed a judge of the British Columbia Provincial Court.

Derek has had a unique career, practicing first as a physiotherapist before becoming a lawyer in 2004. Derek briefly practiced as a defence lawyer but starting in 2006, he began to represent people who had been hurt in accidents, including ICBC car accident claims and slip and falls. Derek’s training and experience as a physiotherapist and defense lawyer provided him with unique insight into the medical and legal issues that his clients faced. Not only is Derek known for his one-of-a-kind legal-medical perspective, but also for his approachable and compassionate demeanor.

Harper Grey’s Managing Partner, Jonathan Meadows, had these comments on the appointment: “I would like to congratulate Derek on his appointment and wish him all the best in this next exciting stage in his legal career.  Derek is a first-rate lawyer who is well-respected by his peers and his clients think the world of him. He is not only personable and compassionate but also thoughtful and fair.  I think he will be a perfect fit for the Provincial Court bench. On behalf of Harper Grey, I would like to thank Derek for his years with our firm – we will certainly miss him!”
