Harper Grey lawyer, Kim Jakeman, was recently interviewed by the Canadian Bar Association (CBA) regarding upcoming changes to be made to Canada’s Medical Assistance in Dying (MAID) law.
As the Chair of the CBA’s End of Life Working Group, Kim was keen to share her insights about the promulgation of Bill C-7. Kim notes there could be a real issue to address when the person seeking MAID is a mature minor with a mental illness. “That’s going to be a struggle,” she commented. “We need to ensure there are appropriate protections in place.”
