To increase awareness of the benefits of having a will, the Government of British Columbia has proclaimed April 9-15, 2018 as “Make A Will Week”. The purpose of this annual campaign is to encourage the public to write their will or bring an existing will up-to-date. Planning wills and estates involves consideration of a wide range of personal, family and legal issues which can include appointing guardians for children, protecting wealth for younger beneficiaries, creating trusts in wills for disabled beneficiaries and tax efficient planning.
