Siobhan Sams elected President of the Board of the Vancouver Choral Arts Society
November 1, 2019
Harper Grey Lawyer, Siobhan Sams, has been elected President of the Board of the Vancouver Choral Arts Society, a registered charity and the umbrella organisation for what is known as the Vancouver Youth Choir or VYC. The VYC was founded in 2013 and has since grown from a single choir of 30 singers to nearly 250 singers across five separate ensembles. Its mission is to create a choral community which fosters artistic excellence and human potential through innovation, mentorship and a sense of belonging. Singers range in age from 5 to 24 and there is a bursary programme for those in need. A longtime believer in the benefits of choral singing, Siobhan joined the Board in 2017 for a three year term. She was elected Secretary in 2018. After this year, Siobhan is eligible to stand for re-election for up to two more terms.
